How to cut your computer energy use

A few weeks ago, my husband did a wonderful thing. He plugged all of his computer components, and our office light, into a power strip. When he switches off his computer at night and goes to bed, he flips the switch and kills the electricity. I’m so proud of him! I can’t wait until we set up my computer (and our video game systems!) in the same way. Here’s an article from the folks at Build It Solar, detailing how to go about such an endeavor. And, here’s an article from Computer World that also talks about saving energy in your home office.  Something that this article mentions is a product called “Kill-a-Watt” which measures the energy usage of anything plugged into it.  I might just have to get one of these things.
